The Story Behind TEN

Designer Michael Schneider sought to create a chair that felt both soft and precise—inviting without appearing heavy, refined without feeling formal. Achieving this balance required careful attention to proportion, line, and craftsmanship.

The chair's defining feature is the continuous transition between the backrest and arms. Rather than appearing as separate components, these elements flow together naturally, creating a silhouette that feels effortless from every angle.

The upholstered back introduces subtle flexibility that comfortably supports the body, while the upholstered seat enhances comfort for extended gatherings, meals, and conversation.

Schneider often speaks of the importance of creating furniture that feels harmonious from every viewpoint. Viewed from the front, side, or rear, TEN reveals the thoughtful proportions and craftsmanship that make it uniquely compelling.

California Inventory Program

Twice each year, CondeHouse Japan releases a carefully selected inventory program featuring customer favorites, award-winning designs, and notable new introductions.

These pieces are handcrafted in Hokkaido, Japan and shipped to CondeHouse's California warehouse as part of a limited small-batch release program. The collection represents some of CondeHouse's most celebrated designs, allowing select pieces to be enjoyed without the lead times typically associated with made-to-order Japanese furniture.

Inventory is intentionally limited and reflects only a small portion of the broader CondeHouse collection. Each piece maintains the same materials, craftsmanship, and quality standards found throughout the brand's made-to-order offerings.
